Daylight

Light is a mysterious existence as it seems visible but it is invisible. Through my photography, I’ve been searching to substantiate the temperature which light enfolds within itself. In my pursuit for a bright place, I had an opportunity to know about Amami　(Southern island of Japan). Light is a mysterious existence as it seems visible but it is invisible. In my pursuit for a bright place, I had an opportunity to know about Amami (Southern island of Japan). 

光という存在は、目に見えるようでいて見えない不思議な存在です。それでもぼくは、そんな光の中に存在している温度を、なんとしても写真の中に定着させたいと、そんな世界をずっと探し続けていました。そして、とにかく自身にとってのあかるいところを探している中で、偶然にも奄美と出会いました。すると、その土地は眩ゆいばかりの光溢れるところであったのはもちろんのこと、そこに暮らす人々も含めて、とてもあたたかいところでした。そして今、奄美で感じたあたたかい光の世界を、不思議なことに北国の津軽の中でも見つけることが出来ました。

Blue

Not long after I begun photography, may be because they were monochrome photographs, I was impressed strongly by the after image of light rather than the particular subject in the picture. It is like an accident when I find ina photographs, … I might have been always looking for somewhat called temperature within the indistinctive world my daily life. It was neither abstract nor concrete, but was just like a dream.

写真を始めて間もない頃、それがモノクロ写真だったこともあって、具体的に写っているもの以上に、むしろその世界に存在した“光の残像” のようなものが映し出されているような印象を受けました。そして時折、そんな一枚の写真の中に、そこに存在する色や香りが響き合うすがたと共に、自身の小さな思いのようなものを、偶然にも映し出されることがあります。ぼくは、そんな自身の日常の未分化な世界の中に、ある種の温度のようなものを探し続けていたのかもしれません。そしてそのすがたは抽象的でもなく、かといって具象的でもない、まるで夢のような世界でした。
